1.CR Sasikumar has taken over as Managing Director of State Bank of Travancore (SBT), one of the associate banks of State Bank of India. He has started his career as a probationary officer (PO) with SBI in 1978. Prior, he was Deputy Managing Director, Inspection & Management Audit, at SBI Corporate Centre in Hyderabad.

2.The Indian Boxing Council (IBC), a licensing body for professional boxers in the country which has Vijender Singh among others on its roster has been granted affiliation by the Commonwealth Boxing Council(CBC). Indian Boxing Council is a National Boxing Governing body that sanctions professional boxing matches and awards national and subordinate championship titles.

3.Renowned Indian sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has won the gold medal in the people’s choice category at the World Sand Art Championship in Bulgaria. Pattnaik has won the prize for his sand sculpture titled ‘Drugs Kill Sports’ where he depicted cyclist Lance Armstrong and tennis player Maria Sharapova, who have faced charges of using drugs to enhance performance​.

4.World Environment Day (WED) was observed globally on 5 June 2016 with theme Zero tolerance for the illegal trade in wildlife. The day aims at inspiring more people to take action to prevent the growing strain on Earth’s natural systems from reaching the breaking point.

5.Eminent actor and theatre personality Sulabha Deshpande passed away 4 June 2016 in Mumbai. She was 79.

6.The Haryana Government on 3 June 2016 launched Asia's First Gyps Vulture Reintroduction Programme at Jatayu Conservation Breeding Centre, Pinjore.

7.Asia’s largest annual security forum Shangri-La Dialogue was inaugurated in Singapore on 3 June 2016. It is the 15th Asia Security Summit to openly discuss and debate security matters in the Asia-Pacific region.

8.Senior IPS officer Navin Agarwal was on 3 June 2016 appointed as Director General (DG)/ Chief Executive Officer (CEP) of National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA).

9.Novak Djokovic joined the tennis greats on Sunday when he downed British second seed Andy Murray 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 to claim his maiden French Open title and hold all four Grand Slams at the same time.

10.Congress Legislature Party leader V Narayanasamy (69-year) sworn in as Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Puducherry.
