1.Philippines became the first Asian country to approve the sale of the world’s first ever dengue vaccine Dengvaxia in the country.

2.Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has extended the deadline for exchanging pre-2005 currency notes of various denominations by another six months to June 30, 2016.

3.Gautam H Bambawale was on 23 December 2015 appointed as the High Commissioner of India to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

4.The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee dedicated the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore to the nation as an institute of national importance.

5.The pair of Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis was on 22 December, 2015 named as the Women’s Doubles World Champions by the International Tennis Federation (ITF)

6.Lakshmi Vilas Bank has appointed Parthasarathi Mukherjee as the new Managing Director (MD) and CEO.

7.Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach was on 20 December, 2015 crowned Miss Universe 2015 at the final of 64th edition of Miss Universe held in Las Vegas, the USA.

8.Andy Murray of the UK on 20 December 2015 received the 2015 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award in London.

9.India’s biggest Wildlife Rescue Centre named as Gorewada Zoo and Wildlife Rescue Centre has been commissioned at Gorewada near Nagpur, Maharashtra.

10.West Bengal Government has approved proposal for formation of five new districts in the state. With this the total number of districts of Bengal will increase to 25.

11.Alyz Henrich of Venezuela has been crowned Miss Earth 2013 at the Versailles Palace, Philippines

12.Chief Economic Advisor Dr Arvind Subramanian led Committee has recommended standard rate for Goods and Services Tax (GST) at 17 to 18 per cent.

13.Australia’s Federal Parliament has passed Australian Citizenship Amendment (Allegiance to Australia) Bill, 2015 to strip citizenship of convicted persons on terrorism charges.

14.Rajasthan’s Apurvi Chandela on 15 December 2015 won a Gold medal in the 10-metre Air Rifle event on the final day of the 59th National Shooting Championship in Delhi.

15.Senior revenue service officer Arun Kumar Jain on 15 December 2015 was appointed Chairman of Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).

16.In it’s fifth bi-monthly monetary policy statement, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on 1 December, 2015 kept key rates-repo and CRR unchanged. RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan left the benchmark interest rate, the repo rate unchanged at 6.75 per cent and the CRR at 4 per cent. RBI set to achieve its target of getting inflation down at 6 per cent by January and is aiming to reduce the number further to 5 per cent by March 2017.

17.International Monetary Fund (IMF) on 30 November, 2015 included China’s Yuan into it’s elite reserve currency. The entry of Yuan as reserve currency takes effect from 1 October, 2016. Yuan will be a freely usable currency and will be included as a fifth currency, along with the US Dollar, Euro, Japanese Yen amd British Pound.

18.India has been ranked 131 out of 167 nations on ICT Development Index (IDI) that measures the level of information and communication technology access.

19.The International Cricket Council (ICC) on 23 December 2015 announced the winners for the 2015 ICC Awards in Dubai, the UAE. Among the 10 awards announced, the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Cricketer of the Year and Test Cricketer of the Year were conferred on Australian captain Steve Smith. Smith became the fourth Australian and 11th overall to win the prestigious award. ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year announced to AB de Villiers (South Africa), ICC Emerging Cricketer of the Year to Josh Hazlewood (Australia), ICC Spirit of Cricket Award to Brendon McCullum (New Zealand) and ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year to Meg Lanning (Australia).

20.Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently among the top 10 people in the Time magazine’s Person of the Year reader’s choice poll. Democratic Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders (10.5 %) continues to lead the poll, Modi with a vote share of 2.7 % was in eighth place. While Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai (5.9 %) was in second place and Pope Francis (3.9 %) in third place.
